So the way that I understand it is that God no longer chooses to reveal his will specially because, esentially, he's already said everything he needs to say. Which is pretty cool, because I don't have to sit around waiting for a voice- I can just go search the scriptures.
But I know that he works in individuals lives actively today. It's not like he just sits up in heaven and watches the world go around.
The difficult part is figuring out how to follow his leading in the every day things. I mean, the answers arn't always obvious, like weather I should go to Africa or New York. These decisions arn't just arbitrary, are they? God might open up one door and close the other, all for his perfect plan. Maybe it's not always a good idea to fight and fight against a closed door, while others might be closed for a time just to test our faith. Other times, maybe we just need to learn to love what is good for us- the doors that God chooses to open that we don't want to walk through.
Tell me, what do you think about that?
hm... well i'm reminded of stories akin to Moses where the faithful had to fight against all odds against "closed doors" and whatnot, and it was all in the favor of the Lord.
ReplyDeleteSo, I don't think that all closed doors are there just to say "no".
Sometimes, OPEN doors are what you need to watch out for. Things like the opportunity to drop out of school and be lazy.
"Nothing good comes easily, sometimes you've got to fight"
That's from the song "Amber" by 311.
Despite that line, the rest of the song is pretty relaxing and mellow.
You can add that one to the list of songs I sent you. :P
The quote is definitely on the opposite extreme of what you said, though I do think some of the best things you get in life are things that you really fight for. :)
Yes, but not after the Bible was closed. Something to do with Revelation and things I don't exactly understand. I know, I know- I should look into it. Ask Danny, he knows. :-P
ReplyDeleteMatt, I agree with you completely... I do believe some of the greatest things in life are the things you have to fight for, hard. It's just hard to know when you should fight and when you shouldn't. I guess wise decision making and really knowing the scriptures is the best we can do on this earth!
Careful, asking opinions is a dangerous thing :P
ReplyDeleteyou hit the nail on the head, em. when people run around searching for the will of God and looking at what they want to do in respect to open and closed doors, i think the best way is just have the best knowledge of the Word as possible (after all, it's what he left us with, if we want to know His will we must know Him, which the Bible give us everything sufficiently right?) anyway, you'll never have all the answers or know 100% on what doors are open and closed, but the closer you stick the Bible the more comfort you can have in decisions you make.
